My brother took this photo as we explored the Fort Ord National Monument (Laguna Seca trailhead, Salinas CA)
My goal for this sparkling new year: EXPLORE.
Which means cracking open. Trusting myself. Shedding expectations. Kicking thoughts of unworthiness upside the head, giving me enough time to run away, shouting for joy.
Anyone wanna come with me?
Hello, 2016. Let’s do this.
“Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.”
― Brené Brown, Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead
Explore sounds like an awesome goal!
sounds like an excellent opportunity to try some new things…I am always up for that 😀
kicking the thoughts unworthiness out will be hard…it would be for me at any rate!!

When trying things out of my comfort zone, I’m not as brave when I’m by myself, so it’s going to be a challenge! Re. unworthiness, I find that it’s a lot of work to change the messages we send ourselves and replace them with new, healthy ones. But it’s sooo worth it because we’re worth it!!

You are so right! Reprogramming our minds to tell us healthy positive things is surprisingly hard but so worthwhile!!
I am not brave on my own! For every new thing I have tried and written about on my blog there are about 3 others I have chickened out of!!

Nice list! I especially like “Kicking thoughts of unworthiness upside the head”! It’s hard to do sometimes, but it’s gotta be done, done, done:).

Thanks, G! Yeah, you can never rest when it comes to self-defeating thoughts. The good part is learning how to fight them off when they start to attack you…

I’m with you, Jane… I love the explore “theme” of your new year — a bit delayed in my wishes, but I wish you a most wonderful year of exploring.
